Big win comes at a cost as Armia goes down
1/11/2021 • JL Wolf

The usual suspects lead the way to a hard fought victory in a surprisingly high scoring game against a tough opponent in a heavy western conference matchup. The Kings 3rd win in a row leaves them sitting firmly at the top of the Pacific division.

Sidney Crosby scored his 8th goal on the season and recorded a staggering 15 wins in 24 faceoff draws. The goal lands him in top of the league for both goals and points, while rookies John Marino (3 assists) and Adam Fox (1 goal, 1 assist) had a big hang in the win, both offensively and defensively. Both rookies have shown plenty of poise in their young seasons, being leaned on to play significant roles by coach Gallant.

Justin Braun and Mathieu Perreault each registered their first goals on the season, while each adding a helper as well, both finishing with 1 goal, 1 assist. Noted defensive forward Zach Aston-Reese lit the lamp for his third on the season.

The big win did come at a significant cost, however. Joel Armia took an awkward hit from Jacob Trouba on his first shift of the game, leading to his night ending as quickly as it began. Unfortunately for the Kings, top 6 winger armia looks to be shelved with a back injury for the next month. Coach Gallant will experiment with the open top 6 slot, but the Kings do not expect to replace Armia in such short order.

The Kings will look to keep the drive alive as they enter the Ponda center for their next game against the Ducks, followed by a strong 5 game home stand.
