GM History of the DCHL

DCHL GM History

The DCHL has a long history, and I thought it would be helpful to provide a quick glimpse into it, to learn about who has been around to help shape the franchises and league as a whole.

On this list, you will find that there have been some General Managers who have been here since the beginning, and even some who have left, only to come back to the league.

I chose to start this list as of the 2016-17 because this is how far back the record keeping goes on the site, but I know that the history is much further than that.

Without further ado, I present the GMs of every franchise since the 2016-17 season.

Now that we have had a chance to see all past and current GM’s, I thought it might be nice to look at the various playoff success and misfortune that the GM’s have had.

Missed Playoffs = Red
Made Playoffs = Green

Mig and the Columbus Blue Jackets have snapped the seven year drought of missing the playoffs as the team will compete for the Stanley Cup for the first time since 2016-17. Detroit now holds the longest record of not making the playoffs with eight consecutive seasons. Anaheim is right behind Detroit, with a current streak of seven.

In the nine season the DCHL has kept stats, only two divisional winners have also won the Stanley Cup, Chicago in 2018-19 and Buffalo in 2023-24.

Josh Guertler and the Philadelphia Flyers hold the record for the most consecutive playoffs made, clinching  playoffs in all nine seasons, the only team in the DCHL to have done so. The Buffalo Sabres have made the playoffs in each year that Ian Thornton has led the team (eight seasons), which includes a record two Stanley Cups. Despite his success, there is another who holds a better win rate in the DCHL. Former General Manager of the Winnipeg Jets, Will Clarke, won two Stanley Cups in six seasons before announcing his retirement.

The Sabres have the most Divisional banners hanging in their rink with four, followed by Philadelphia and San Jose with three each. Utah/Arizona hold one of the more unique records in the DCHL, having won both the Pacific (Arizona) and Central (Utah) Divisional Titles.
