Utah will face off against the Vancouver Canucks in the Western Conference Finals. It will be the first time that these two teams have met in the playoffs, so let’s review how previous matchup’s have gone.
Over the course of the 2024-25 DCHL Regular Season, these two teams met three times, with Vancouver winning all three games (one in overtime), outscoring Utah 13-7. Both goaltenders on each team were given starts in the regular season series Utah finished with a save percentage of 0.8375 (67/80), compared to Vancouvers 0.9255 (87/94). The leading scorer for Utah was Valeri Nichushkin, who finished with three goals and three assists, while the Canucks had both Werenski (one goal, four assists) and Hedman (two goals, three assists) are their joint team leaders. Special teams also played a crucial part in the regular season. The Canucks dominated Utah in both aspects, converting on 27.3% of their opportunities (3/11), while also completely shutting the door on the penalty kill, closing out 90% of their penalties (9/10)
