Utah Prospect Review

March 2025
3/16/2025 • Trevor Sifton

Jacob Battaglia continues to be the best forward prospect for the DCHL Utah Hockey Club. His D+1 season was impressive, especially when you see he was keeping up with the likes of Beckett Sennecke. Battaglia will likely finish the season in the top 10 for scoring in the OHL.

Dmitri Rashevsky remains as the second-best offensive prospect for the Hockey Club. After posting 18 points in the first 37 games, Rashevsky had a strong second half, with 21 points in the next 24 games. His contract is up in the KHL at the end of this year, and it would be great to see him make the jump to North America.

Cole Brown was the biggest riser on this list, putting up 47 points in his last 30 games. The Kingston Frontenacs are loaded with stars like Nick Lardis and Jake O’Brien, and Brown has been able to benefit playing with them. Hopefully playing with that type of talent will help him develop further.

Defence

After a slow start, Tristan Luneau absolutely dominated the AHL in his first full season with the Gulls. Luneau is posting just under a point per game this season. It will be hard for the Ducks to keep him in the AHL if he continues to produce at this level.

Not enough praise can be given to Henry Mews after a spectacular D+1 season. If Mews can continue to produce and learn from this past season, he could end up being one of the steals of this draft. For most of the season, he was keeping up with another high-octane defenceman in Zayne Parekh, however a trade to the Sudbury Wolves saw his production decline. Mews finds himself now sitting as the second-best defensive prospect for the Utah Hockey Club after a great season.

We hope to see Vittorio Mancini continue developing as a bottom four defenceman, after being traded from the Ranger to the Canucks, where we believe he will be given more of an opportunity to develop his skills. This pick has already exceeded expectations by making the NHL. DCHL Utah is hoping he can continue to surprise the franchise.

Goalies

Jet Greaves leads the group of young goaltenders for the Utah Hockey Club. Playing primarily in the AHL, Greaves has had a few opportunities to showcase his skills at the NHL level. In five games, he has posted a GAA of 2.98, SV% of 0.906, and a record of 2-1-2. The hope is the Greaves can cement himself in the NHL as a backup, so that we can lock in the tandem of Oettinger and Greaves for the foreseeable future.

Isaac Poulter takes the second spot on this list over Khazheyev due to his time share in the crease. He currently has an even split with Nico Daws, though Daws has seen playing time in the NHL this season. Khazheyev has a better opportunity in the long run as the Canes top goalie prospect and has the potential to just Poulter in future years.

At the moment, Utah has three 2nds (MTL, CHI, UT), a 3rd, two 4ths (UT, VAN), a 5th, and a 6th. Utah is well rounded with their prospects and don’t have any immediate holes that need to be filled. Expect Utah to target the best player available in the upcoming 2025 DCHL Draft.
