Arizona Acquires Anton Khudobin

Arizona acquired goaltender Anton Khudobin from the New York Rangers before the Olympic break in an attempt to turn around their season. Since joining the team, Khudobin has gone 4-1-0 in his five starts, which included a shutout, while posting a 2.00GAA and a 0.927sv%.

“It’s a vast improvement not having a total sieve on the back end. We expected that from Spencer Martin, but not Braden Holtby” said head coach Peter Laviolette.

Holtby, is one of the DCHL’s most successful goaltenders, had arguably his worst season in Arizona, during a year when they needed goaltending the most.

“Lets be honest, our top line is absolutely disgusting. We have three of the top 10 scorers in the DCHL all playing on a line together. Offence certainly wasn’t our problem when it comes to this team. Even our back end has been contributing offensively. We might as well have put a shooter tutor in net”.

Arizona ranks in the top 10 in both goals for and against. The Coyotes hope for the continued strong play of their new goaltender to help propel them into the playoffs. They currently sit tied for last in the division with a record of 26-22-3 (55pts), which would have them sitting 2nd in the Atlantic, 5th in the Pacific, and 5th in the Metro.
