Red 'hot' Wings

10/26/2021 • Trevor D

The Red ‘hot’ Wings are currently sitting atop the Eastern Conference after a sessional start to the season.   Detroit opened the first three games by outscoring their opponents 10 to 2  going into game four with the Flames.  It was a wide-open game with 11 goals scores between the two teams which ended the winning streak of Detroit in an overtime loss.  The single point loss propelled the Wings to the top of the leader board in the East.

Captain Esa Lindell put up a Hat Trick in last nights loss and has been leading the charge once again this year with 5 goals and 2 assists in 4 games.  Lindell is one of the most under rated players in the league and while many teams continue to show interest in the top defenseman, the Wings will continue to give Lindell the ice time and leadership role he deserves.

When asked about the role Lindell plays on team, Coach Tortorella had this to say.  As I've always said of Lindell, he is a student of the game and always will be. That's why he continues to progress. I think his maturity at such a young age allowed him to grow into more roles on a team. That's important, the preparation. 'Are you satisfied with your play or do you want to continue to get better' I don't think Lindell is satisfied yet. And for us to be where we want to be, we can't have him satisfied he needs to continue to get better.”
