"It was a hell of a run!" GM Stefenelli
The cinderella season is over folks. The Buffalo Sabres have now eliminated the NJ Devils from the playoffs in 2 of the last 3 years. Ouch!
"Kudos to Ian Thornton and Captain Jeff Petry of the Sabres."
Petry, you may remember, was a Devil a few years back, before his trade to Tampa Bay for Jett Woo. It's really nice to see him have success after putting in so much hard work for our favorite hockey club.
The offseason is set to be a busy one. We have the expansion draft looming. That's sure to shake the entire league up. Who will NJ lose?
The Devils are armed nicely for the coming entry draft. In fact, I have it on good authority that NJ has a handshake agreement to swap picks with a western conference team once the trade freeze is lifted.
I'm told the Devils will trade their 1st round pick for a pair of picks in the 2nd round. Quantity over quality.
Essentially this takes the team out of the first round, but it also gives them six picks in the 2nd round.
