Islanders acquire goaltender Varlamov from Toronto

The New York Islanders got G Chris Driedger took in the expansion draft by Seattle, so GM Flax Laplante wasnt too happy and wanted to fix the immediate need of the team as soon as possible. And not have to wait to free agency and overpay someone.

Semyon Varlamov is coming to the island on a friendly contract with decent terms.  We are very exited to have him with us.  He is a hard working player and it show in his work ethics.  The price to pay was very high, which we had to mainly give up the #6 overall pick of the draft.  You have to give to receive and that is what we did. We feel like our team is in win now mode, and with a veteran goalie like Varlamov we almost assure a playoff spot.
