NEW YORK - NOV 21 2021

The New York Islanders long wait is finally over.  Nearly four years after winning the bid to build a new home next to Belmont Park, the Isles opened the doors to the Inaugural home opener at UBS Arena against the Calgary Flames. Unfortunetaly, they ruined our home opener in extra time. Bryan Rust only scorer in shootout.

"It was a magical moment for sure" GM Flax Laplante said after a short interview.

It absolutely blew me away Semyon Varlamov said.  I walked right in, saw the gym, saw the eating area, and I couldn't wait to see more. The entire facility and the rink and how it was set up were so high end. We're a really lucky group.

"It's a beautiful building, the energy level is the air is absolutely incredible" said Gilles Laplante, first time season ticket holder from Casselman, Ontario. "It's a long drive from home but it's worth everything to come support my team".

The Isles will welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs on a back to back. Vitek Vanecek will be in the crease against them. Martin Lemay from RDS as a podcast and he says all great things about that goalie. Excited to see him play home for the first time tomorow.
