Coming into the 2025-26 DCHL Season, it was all but guaranteed that star goaltender Jake Oettinger would be getting most of the starts this season but in an unexpected turn of events, rookie Jet Greaves has now started five of the last six games.
“Jet has been playing great for us this year and I wanted to make sure he was getting that recognition” said Head Coach Glen Gulutzan.
While Greaves has played about half as many games as Oettinger, we expect that gap to close if Oettinger continues to struggle to find his game. Thru 36 games this season, Oettinger has started 23 and owns a record of 12-10-1 with no shutouts, accompanied by a GAA of 2.75 and SV% of 0.8947, versus Greaves who has started 13 games, holds a record of 8-2-3 with 2 shuts outs and a GAA of 2.18 and SV% of 0.9132.
It will be interesting to see how the rest of this season plays out. Will Oettinger be able to win back his crease, or will Greaves slowly climb into talks as a dark horse for the Calder Trophy?
