Flames make the Show

1st Round Matchup against Sharks Looms
5/12/2021 • Vince Brzostowski

After losing Charlie McAvoy and Mikko Koivu for the final couple of months of the regular season, the Flames were still able to clinch a playoff spot and have a date against the high-powered Sharks in the 1st round.

"We brought in Bryan Rust and Stamkos and felt pretty confident, but losing our MVP McAvoy and two-way stud Koivu before the deadline with long-term injuries was devastating."

Bryan Rust quickly became a fan favorite and was the two-way threat the team hoped he would be and another newcomer Paul Byron led the PK unit while chipping in 6 goals and 10 points in 16 games. Carey Price was clutch down the stretch with 7 straight wins of his own to lead the team back to the playoffs.

"Carey is a hell of a goalie and he really stepped up and we hope he continues his strong play come playoff time."

With one game left for both Calgary and SJ and with both teams tied in the standing, home ice is still up for grabs.
