Welcome to the pre deadline edition of what's hot and what's not

Today we will take a look at everything surrounding the deadline, we'll head out west to a red hot canadian team and take a closer look at  vegas , what is happening there.

What's Hot: Edmonton Oilers

Surprise surprise, Mika Zibanejad is inserted in the lineup, not sure by the gm or randomly by the sim, and the Oilers catch fire. Since his return in the lineup, the Oilers have went 8-1-1.   They've went from an outside team to sitting 5 pts up on the 9th place team.   One issue coming up very soon is that Tuuka Rask is currently at 62 games played. With the limit of 65, Casey Desmith will have to be in net for the final stretch.   Trading for another starter is possible as there are some goalies available but im not even sure Gm Yurkewich is aware that he still owns a team in the dchl.

What's Not: Vegas Golden Knights

Here we have a team consisting of a couple stars named Eichel and Markstrom, and a very strong supporting cast in Teravainen, M. Tkachuk, W. Nylander. Yet they find themselves in a 1-8-1 10 games stretch and sit behind the Vancouver Canuks in the pacific.. Ouch thats embarassing.  Markstrom, although rated 91ov, has been horrible since being acquired by vegas.  He owns a 5-11-5 record and a Gaa upwards of 3.  Dahlin and Zadorov have been brutal with a combined -48 this year.   They sit in the 2nd half of almost all team stats aspects including shooting %, save %, pp % so it could just have been a unlucky year all around.  Winning the lottery would be a good way to turn this season into a positive.

What's Hot:  ITS TRADE DEADLINE SEASON WOOOOOO

Trade deadline season is easily one of everyone's favorite time of the year, for Nhl purposes and Dchl purposes. Trades are getting done and the trade block is getting active.  Montreal who surprisingly sits in a playoff spot, made 2 trades recently acquiring 2 defs to help make the push for the postseason. First, they traded for John Klingberg and then for M-E Vlasic.   Ottawa has yet to respond, maybe Gm Downs is confident in his team as is, or making the playoffs this year just isnt worth trading future assets.

In another big trade, Gm Laplante sent Ristolainen, Portillo and a pick for Theodore.  Risto already has 1g1a in 1 game while Theo has 1g in 2 games so i guess Colorado won the trade? lol

In the latest trade, Florida sent a pile of crumbs to dallas in return for an even bigger pile of crumbs.

With the deadline being tomorrow at midnight, im sure we'll have some more trades, there's still some solid players on the block.  Topping the board is Lars Eller from vancouverm great leadership, great hair and with the same name as Metallica's drummer, you gotta love him.

Thanks for tuning in,
as always

You stay classy, DCHL
