Hello and welcome to another edition of the Florida Panthers News... uhh i mean another edtion of what's hot and what's not. Today we'll talk about the long olympic break, the all-star game and since Gm Clarke didnt take the control of the central division, the Jets wont be in the spotlight this week.. entirely that is, as the last segment will cover the Central division as a whole.
What's Not: Olympic break or Allstar break or any break whatsoever
There isnt much to say here, this sucks. No one likes long break.. i think? but the sim runners and busy with life gms will appreciate it. Maybe it'll give enough time for Gm Yurkewich to finally insert Zibanejad in the lineup.. or maybe put another goalie in net since Rask played all 52 games so far. The best part of the break is we wont have to listen to Gm Wilson brag about how good his gm skills are after bringing the 30th place rangers all the way up to 28th.
What's Hot: All star game
Congrats to the western conference for winning the all star game 12 to 10. The score might have been closer than expected with the west being heavily favored. Marchand and Eichel both scored 5 pts while Pastrnak and Malkin had 4. Larkin and Rantanen had the chance to play with Seattle's representative in Patrick Marleau and judging by their performance, they wont be too happy about it. The trio combined -12 rating. Cam Talbot also had a terrible performance which might have cost the East the game. He allowed 4 goals on only 7 shots in the 3rd. Way to go Cam.
What's insanely Hot: Central Division
Here are some crazy facts that shows how strong this division has been.
- The central have more teams over .500 than the entire eastern conference
- The 8 teams combine for 76 games over .500
- The last place team would be 7th out of 16 in the east
The fact that they play each other constantly and have all managed to be succesful is impressive, whatever happens for the rest of the season, 3 playoffs worthy teams will be left on the outside.
Thanks for tuning in
You stay classy, Dchl
