Hello and welcome to the 1 day late edition of What's Hot and What's Not.
Today we will visit the the ruckus happening in the atlantic divison,  a tanking team score a homerun and we'll conclude with a team that might have dethroned San Jose as the best team in the league.

What's Not: Covid

Covid has taken over my house, hence why im a day late. Sorry everyone, wont happen again lol.

What's Hot:  Gm Levergneux adds quality veterans

The Florida Panthers were struggling bad lately, and not having their own 1st, making the playoffs is a must.  What do they decide to do?  Give away their franchise player and a bunch of other quality roster players? No, thats the other team in the atlantic without their 1st who did that.   Gm Levergneux got to work.  1st, the panthers sent bottom 6 forward Barabanov and 3rd pair Carson Soucy for veteran Ryan Suter and replenished their pick cupboard with 3 x 2nd rounders.   Then they sent a package that includes Ethan bear to Dallas for Erik Karlsson and Jakub Voracek.   Florida did lose their next game but these moves will surely help them secure a playoff spot.   Its not often that you can make your team better and not hurt your future and Gm Lervegneux did just that.   Starting tomorrow, against the self proclaimed "best gm of this generation", the Panthers will face 28th place Rangers on the road followed by 4 home games against non playoff team.  Perfect occasion to get back on a winning streak.

What's Hot:  NYR add Pastrnak

Gm Wilson didnt have much to be excited for when he took over the Rangers, he had a couple of good young guys but nothing special, and the roster was weak.  Seth Jarvis was his best future asset.  After a bunch of trades, he hit the jackpot. David freakin Pastrnak.   When asked about it, Gm Wilson had this to say: " its not everyday you can acquire a superstar with a great contract without giving away anything substantial, so we had to do it"   Whether the Rangers decide to keep Pastrnak or trade him away for double what he paid for, this trade alone probably saved a year or 2 of rebuild.

What's Hot:  Caroline > san jose???

Season long #1 in  imaginary power rankings, the sharks now sit #2.  The hurricanes have clawed their way to 2 pts off the sharks.  Based on that alone, San Jose would still hold the edge but they face each other recently and that performance by Carolina was impressive. They disposed of the powerful Sharks 4-0 in the shark tank.   Robyn Lehner was the big performer with a 28 save shutout. Across the ice, Vasilevskiy had a bad performance with 4 goals allowed on only 18 shots.   10 of the next 14 Carolina games are at home. Will a team finally surpass Gm Wile and the Sharks in the standing?  Gm Giletto and the Hurricanes are the favorite right now.

Thanks for tuning in,
You stay classy, Dchl
