Bowness Out - Keefe In

Recent Struggles Lead to Coaching Change

The Flames have moved on from Rick Bowness with a trade with the Rangers and have brought in Sheldon Keefe. Rick Bowness will be joining the Rangers along with a tidy 3 Million.

"It's unfortunate having to make a change mid-season but we needed to do something. We have lost  6 of 7 including a very poor performance against the Kraken and something had to happen."

Rumors are there were some offers been thrown around the league as the team tried to add to the top 6 but nothing was looking like it was going to get done anytime soon.

"We have a good team, not quite a great team yet, but we shouldn't be struggling the way we are and with Keefe, we hope we can start producing a lot more than we have been. We brought Rick in knowing he focused more on the defensive side of things but that hasn't been a strong point this year. All around we have struggled and if it wasn't for Fleury and Pietrangelo we would be in a lot worse shape than we are. At least we can still fight for a playoff spot and think Sheldon is the guy we need now and going forward."

The team is looking for a top-line forward (preferably a center) contract length and end of contract status does not matter.
