10/27/2021 - NEW YORK

The New York Islanders begin the season with a 13 straight road games stretch while construction of their sparkling new UBS Arena is completed.  Going back at Nassau Colliseum wasnt an option.  It is the second longest road trip in NHL history.  Vancouver had 14 in a row in 2010 due to Olympics.  New York wont play at home until November 20th.  They are somewhat familiar to be away from home for a long time since they pass nearly 2 months in Canada for the 2020 playoff bubble.

Coach Barry Trotz said "We are not looking our best right now and we wont see the light at the end of the tunnel for at least another month, but we have a tight group a guys, we get together on our days off, do some fun things, hang out, build some chemistry and take it one game, one day at a time and try to power through this and come up with a positive record on the other side."

GM Laplante said " It is a challenge for sure, but to be honest I really like our schedule for the current situatiion we are in, we are all healthy, have a good goalie tandem and we will face adversity early on and it will puts us in a great state of mind to start the season, we going to come back home be there for 2 games out of 3 for the rest of the season after this road trip is done"
