Utah Trades For Cole Caufield

Two Goals In Debut
10/26/2024 • Trevor Sifton

After what can only be described as a turbulent start to the 2024-25 DCHL season, newly acquired Cole Caufield, was informed by management that he could finally unpack his bags. Only nine games into this season, Cole Caufield has already played on four different teams. The young star informed the Bruins that he was looking for consistent linemates to play with, and thus the Bruins facilitated a trade to the Utah Hockey Club, in return for a package of players and picks.

Caufield arrived in L.A yesterday for his first game with the new team and was quickly placed on the top line and powerplay with Aleksander Barkov and Andrei Svechnikov. Caufield, originally drafted by the L.A Kings with the 8th overall pick in the 2019 draft, scored the game’s opening goal in the first period and added an additional on the powerplay in the third.

Utah has been actively shopping for a high scoring winger since last season, and it was made clear after finishing in the bottom half of the league in goals for and an average powerplay, that the team needed to add a pure goal scorer.

Caufield also adds to the team’s young offensive core, consisting of Andrei Svechnikov, Matty Beniers, Krill Marchenko, and Matthew Knies. With Evan Bouchard, Ivan Provorov, and Dylan Samberg patrolling the blue line and Jake Oettinger in net, the team looks to remain competitive for several years.
