Seattle Kraken Off-Season Review Part 1

Post Draft
7/25/2024 • Zach Brideau

Coming into the 2024 DCHL draft the Kraken were very thin in the prospects pool and with 14 picks in the DCHL draft the kraken sure did stock up and gained some top level prospects. In his first DCHL draft GM Brideau sure did leave a mark with his first pick ever selecting Tij Iginla son of the legendary Jarome Iginla.

There were alot of surprises with some of the selections Brideau picked with taking Ethan Procyszyn in the 2nd round some will say that was a reach but Brideau see something special in Procyszyn Game. With Brideau being originally from North Bay he got to see alot more of Procyszyn games and saw him devolpe over the season and saw lots of progress from day 1 of the season until now. With still some work to do to complete his game, Brideau sees a bright future to Procyszyn game.

Off the board picks

The off the board picks started coming of the board for Brideau in round 3 taking Colin Graff and Jacon Quillan and in round 4 taking Alexander Zetterberg and in round 5 taking Michael Simpson and Quinn Hutson

With no goalie prospects coming into the draft Brideau selected Carter George of the Owen Sounf Attack and Michael Simpson of the London Knights.

Mentioned on the DCHL Two Bald Guys podcat, there was some concern with how brideau drafted with it being a D heavy draft brideau only selected 1 D in the likes of E.J Emery in round 1. some say he had some missed oppurtunity to take some D but choose to stick with forwards. With the 2025 and 2026 draft looking to be Forward heavy early on. Will be interesting to see how Brideau can bouche back to draft some Defence prospects in the upcoming years.

and yes Brideau has already been looking at the 2025 and 2026 prospects

Part 2 will be Post DCHL Free Agency will Brideau make a splash or be quiet stay tuned to find out
