Blackhawks Finish Strong but Fall Short

Blackhawks Finish Strong but Fall Short
4/30/2022 • Chris Jacobus

The Chicago Blackhawks closed out their season last night with a 2-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Despite finishing the season with 97 points, going 6 and 1 in the last two weeks of the season, the Blackhawks fell one Regulation Win short from over taking the Calary Flames for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

After the game coach Paul Maurice spoke, "The end of the season is bitter sweet. Yes, it's tough missing the playoffs by a short margin but we've had a hell of a season in a tough division. Not many people gave us a chance this year but I'm proud of how the boys played and I couldn't have asked for more."

Last year the Blackhawks finished as the fifth worst team and turned it around finishing with the third ranked defense and strong goaltending. Brady Skjei and Colton Sissons have already signed extensions. GM Jacobus will be looking for ways to improve his team to remain competitve in the Central Division.

Good luck to all the teams in the playoffs!
