Trade Alert: Predators acquire goalie, and a pair of picks

Tristan Jarry, EDM 3 26, NJD 3 26 to Nashville
10/8/2025 • Neil Burkholder

October 8, 2025 — Nashville, TN

The Nashville Predators have made a bold move to strengthen their crease, acquiring veteran goaltender Tristan Jarry from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick originally from the Calgary Flames. As part of the transaction, the Predators also received two additional assets — a 2026 third-round pick from the Edmonton Oilers and another 2026 third-round pick from the New Jersey Devils.

A Proven Goaltender Joins Smashville

Jarry, 30, brings a wealth of experience and composure to Nashville’s goaltending tandem. The former All-Star has logged over 280 DCHL appearances, known for his sharp reflexes and ability to steal games. With Seattle, Jarry maintained a 2.85 GAA this preseason and earned a reputation as a steady presence both on the ice and in the locker room.

Predators GM Neil Burkholder emphasized Jarry’s leadership and stability as key factors in the move:

“Tristan is a competitor. He’s a veteran presence who has played in high-pressure situations and knows how to win. We believe he’ll be a great influence on our young core and a strong fit in our goaltending rotation.”

Depth and Competition in the Crease

Jarry will join a goaltending group that includes Jake Allen and Dylan Garand, giving Head Coach Lane Lambert flexibility and experience between the pipes. With the Predators undergoing a measured rebuild and looking to transition into a new competitive phase, the move provides both short-term reliability and long-term mentorship for Garand, who continues to develop in Milwaukee.

“This is about building the right environment,” said Lambert. “Tristan’s professionalism and work ethic set the tone. He competes every day, and that energy is contagious.”

Draft Capital and Roster Strategy

For the Predators, maintaining their draft flexibility remains a key organizational focus. Despite parting with a third-round pick from Calgary, Nashville still retains multiple first- and second-round selections this year. The addition of an extra third round pick, and Edmonton is projected to be early.

Burkholder elaborated on the balancing act between building for the future and staying competitive now:

“We’ve said from day one, we’re going to rebuild the right way — with purpose. Moves like this help us stay competitive while also setting up for sustainable success.”

Looking Ahead

Jarry is expected to report to Bridgestone Arena later this week and could debut early in Nashville’s season. Fans in Smashville will get their first look at the new netminder in gold when the Predators hit home ice later this month.

For a team emphasizing structure, leadership, and progress, Tristan Jarry’s arrival symbolizes another deliberate step forward in Nashville’s evolving identity — blending veteran poise with youthful hunger in the chase for future success.
