Kraken 1st Round Complete!

Trades, Picks, and more Trades

The Kraken walked into the draft with picks 4-18-25-32, and walked out with the players selected 1-8-18-31, but it was far from a linear progression.

A trade was half concocted to start the draft, pending Luke Hughes being available at 4, when he was, the Kraken traded pick 4, along with pick 32 to Dallas for Owen Power, pick 54 and prospect Jakub Galvas (who management loves).

The team then sent Mike Smith, pick 18 and pick 54 to the Islanders in exchande for pick 8 and promptly took Mason McTavish, who inexplicably had fallen. We orginally were trying to jump up to take Dylan Guenther, but when McTavish kept falling, we jumped at the chance.

A little later, the Kraken and Islanders hooked up again, with the Kraken reacquiring pick 18 and selecting Xavier Bourgault. In exchange the team sent pick 25 and NYR 2 (22).

Finally right at the end of the draft, the Kraken acquired pick 31 and acquired Francesco Pinelli in exchange for pick 49, Dylan Demelo and Thomas Nosek.

The Kraken are thrilled with how today went, we view Owen Power as an absolute franchise defenseman, along with a great big, two way center in McTavish and 2 lethal scorers in Bourgault and Pinelli, we could not be more thrilled with how today went.

The Kraken still have picks 34-35-45 in round 2, so the action isn't done!
