With years of first round exits in their history, this team has a different path planned out - a different desire. The Nashville Predators showed they were hungry for better results in their first playoff game of the 2020 season by downing the 4th ranked Winnipeg Jets.
"We had success in the regular season, but it means nothing unless you can win the ultimate prize" said long time Predator Filip Forsberg.
Despite owning the second best record in the DCHL during the regular season, the Predators seemed almost comfortable not carrying the Presidents Trophy winner title into the post season.
"Ya, it would have been nice to have some hardware, but at the same time it wouldnt matter compared to our ultimate goal of winning the Stanley Cup." commented GM Aaron Uruski.
"We brought in more experience and fire power this year with trades for Jacob Trouba and Taylor Hall and it wasnt to do anything else other than surpass our best ever results." commented GM Uruski again.
The Predators showed poise in stressful moments as they were tied late into the third period of their game against the Jets until Jonathan Drouin scored the eventual game winning goal with only 16 seconds remaining in the game.
"It was a great pass by Dumba on the fake shot and a special moment. We want to carry the momentum of the regular season. We're confident and we know we can take down the Jets."
More to come on this impressive drive as the teams duel again next on game day #4.
